xOucnx Avenger tested the SabreTooth, Read what he said about this amazing car!
Sunday morning, was like any other Sunday morning for me, stay in bed just that little bit longer, eat cereals, shower, get dressed, brush teeth and so on, you get the picture. However, little did I know that the guys at Tango Tuners had delivered a nice little surprise, well I say little, but actually it was a rather large surprise. It came in form of an SUV adorned with a livery which simply blew me away. I duly took it for a test drive and suddenly my ordinary Sunday morning was turned into a very extraordinary Sunday morning, but was it for the right reasons?
How does it look?
Absolutely brilliant! Without a doubt this has to be the best paint I have seen so far. DOA Liquid has pulled out all the stops on this project and it has paid off big time. He has turned a huge, ungainly vehicle into a thing of beauty and as a result the Cayenne looks superb from every angle.
What’s the performance like?
DOA KappaTango really has worked wonders with this SUV tune, turning the mediocre standard Porsche Cayenne, into a definite B Class winner. The Cayenne has seen a staggering increase of over 100bhp, taking the total bhp to a whopping 659! There has also been a noticeable torque increase, with the Porsche now possessing 578lb ft of torque. It’s not all good though, as Tango Tuners seem to have ignored the fact that the Cayenne needed to go on a diet and increased the weight to a hefty 5,230lbs. Amazingly, the increase in weight seems to have had no impact whatsoever on straight line performance and at full throttle the Cayenne is at its best. Although Tango Tuners claim that the ‘Sabertooth’ is not a leader board car, I managed to easily stick it in the top 1 per cent at most tracks. But the track which really seemed to play to the Cayenne’s strengths had to be Silverstone, in all three track configurations this SUV excelled. Clearly the large number of high speed corners and fairly long straights played right into the hands of the Cayenne. Granted, it’s not going to come top of any leader boards, but for an SUV the performance is mightily impressive.
How does it handle?
In the fast, sweeping corners the Cayenne is in its element, taking them in its stride. However in the slower stuff the Porsche does come a little unstuck and unsurprisingly really, because the weight of it takes its toll. Under heavy breaking you can feel the Cayenne struggling to slow down, tyres clawing at the race track, begging to slow down. As a result of this you find yourself sliding helplessly past the apex, time and time again. However, do not be alarmed, this is by no means the end of the world. All it takes is a slight adaptation in driving style. You can’t just slam on the brakes; you’ve got to wipe the speed of gently and calmly, allowing yourself to ease the Cayenne into a corner. Once you have wiped off enough speed the front end suddenly bites a lot more than it usual. It not longer has to worry about slowing down, that part’s done and it just pulls round nicely. Nevertheless this will cost you time up against other B Class cars, but the second you get on the throttle, you will be untouchable. Let rip down the straights and gain all your lap time there.
Would you feel cool pulling up to start line in it?
Normally, pulling up in an SUV would result in numerous sniggers over the microphone, but with the ‘Sabertooth’ this is certainly not the case. The paint alone silences the sceptics before the race has even begun. Once you hit the straights and rev the pants off the beast, not only do you further silence the sceptics, but you also put miles of track between yourself and them. With the ‘Sabertooth’ racing an SUV just got super cool.
Is it worth spending your hard earned credits on?
If you are looking for an SUV paint/tune combo and you don’t go for this then you probably need to seek medical advice. This really is a no brainer, as long as you don’t mind being the hate figure of online rooms as you drive effortlessly away from everyone down the straights.
FINAL VERDICT
Once again Tango Tuners have attempted to break the laws of physics, or at least the laws of Forza, and turn an SUV into an online dominating, leader board smashing, strangely beautiful, winning machine. Tango Tuner’s ‘Bulldog’ B Class Mercedes SUV certainly proved it was possible despite its hilarious, not to mention dangerous tendency to tip over. This time however, it certainly seems as though Tango Tuners have learnt from their mistakes with Porsche’s all-wheel-drive SUV, the Cayenne. Virtually every aspect as been improved upon second time around, in the SUV tuning department. Tango Tuners really have nailed it this time. Everyone needs an SUV in their Forza garage and the Sabertooth is the one to have.
